Slow Roast and Rice Cooker

Slow Roast Slow roast cooking is a simple way of preparing less expensive cuts of meat for consumption. Slow roast cooking can utilize dry heat, such as broiling or grilling. Slow roast cooking can also be used with liquids to further tenderize the meats or vegetables being prepared. Whether dry or moist heat is utilized, the object of slow roast cooking is to preserve as much moisture in the food as possible, thus preserving the appearance and the flavor of the foods being prepared. When utilizing dry heat for slow roast cooking, a chef will often baste the food with a broth or a sauce to enhance both the moisture and the flavor of the food. When using moist heat, such as in a crock pot or some other appliance, the liquid in which the food is cooked serves as the basting process. In a moist-heat cooker, slow roast cooking is simple because the food does not require monitoring. A chef can simply place the meat and vegetables in the cooker, add the required amount of liquid or broth, cover the food and turn on the appliance. Within a matter of hours, a moist and delicious slow roasted meal will be ready for consumption. Slow roasts are often cooked in crock pots, which are similar appliances to rice cookers.

Rice Cooker Rice cookers are self-contained electronic appliances. They are typically comprised of an insulated outer contained, a heating element, and a removable bowl which holds the rice. During the cooking process, the mixture of rice and water is heated to 100 degrees Celsius, the boiling point of the water. Some of the water is absorbed into the rice, and the rest is boiled off. At this point, the rice will have finished cooking. When all the water has been absorbed or boiled away, the temperature rises above the boiling point of water and the rice cookers switch from cooking mode to warming mode. Many rice cookers can safely keep rice warm for up to twenty four hours. Using a rice cooker greatly simplifies the process of cooking rice. You can eliminate the guesswork in cooking rice by using rice cookers.
